La marca de relojes Citizen cuenta ya con una historia de casi un siglo. Fundada en 1918 bajo el nombre de Shokosha Watch Research Instituto en 1924 lanzaron al mercado un reloj de bolsillo bajo el nombre de Citizen. Debido a su gran éxito, ese mismo año la compañía cambió su nombre a Citizen Watch, siendo registrado el nombre oficialmente en 1930.

Aunque la marca Citizen se especializa en cualquier tipo de relojes, sus modelos se caracterizan sobre todo porque están pensados para los amantes del deporte.

Tanto para hombres como para mujeres la marca cuenta en su catálogo con una amplia variedad de modelos analógicos que incorporan cronómetro, cronógrafo de 1 a 20 segundos, calendario y una alarma. Además, sus modelos son fabricados con titanio reforzado y son muy resistentes a los impactos, también pudiendo sumergirlos a más de 30 metros de profundidad sin preocuparse de que el reloj se dañe por la presión.

Pero esto no lo único que se ofrece dentro del catálogo Citizen. Para aquellas personas que prefieran un reloj que reluzca en su muñeca cuentan con modelos con correas de piel y esferas de acero, con unos diseños más sencillos con los que únicamente el reloj marca la hora. Algunos diseños incluso marcan la semana y el año.

Todos los modelos cuentan con diferentes diseños de correa para cubrir las exigencias de los clientes. Si a un no le gusta la correa de piel, puede pedir una de titanio o de acero de color plateado o bicolor, y en un momento tendrá su reloj listo para colocarlo en la pulsera.

In addition, the fuel lbs index on the bezel is calibrated for aviation gasoline instead of jet fuel. This actually bit me recently as I used the watch bezel for a jet fuel weight calc and it came up incorrect. Nothing in the documentation mentions it is usable for AVGAS only nor does it have a second index for jet fuel. The only people interested in an aviation gasoline calculation would be general aviation pilots. This is obviously geared towards them instead of professionals that fly jet/turbofan aircraft or turboprops that take jet fuel.

I travel with regularity across the Atlantic Ocean and the watch is a perfect complement to my lifestyle. I have a one-click synchronization to the majority of time zones I visit and the watch visually displays my 2 most important times in analog and digital format. The watch is visually stunning as well. The watch has multiple additional features and is solidly designed with a high weight factor. This watch is the best in combination of beauty, functionality and technology.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bear from All time favorite watch. This watch has traveled all over South America, Europe and Mexico with me. The time keeping is more precise than any other time piece I own. It has stayed on time to the second with years of use, even without connecting to the satellites. The radio controlles function is easy to use and something that became very handy while riding trains across Europe. The crystal is surprisingly nice, seems to hold up as well as any Sapphire crystal. I prefer this watch over those I own that cost more than 10 times the price. I hope citizen releases this model again but in black ion plated titanium with different color options like a mix of green, white and grey. There isn’t a better watch under $1,000 that exsists in this world.

Love all the features, especially the dual time zones and calendar options. The auto-set and radio time sync are just icing on top. Only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the band and the fact that it must be cut to adjust it. Solved it by picking up a black/orange NATO strap which highlights the orange bits on the face even more. I looked at a lot of watches before making a purchase, and am confident I made the right choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by chernabog from In a time when watches are rarely worn, go all out I’d been looking at this watch for probably 2 years before finally having reason enough to get it. And I’ve never been happier. All my watches, 2 Bulovas and now 2 Citizens, are all chronographs, well taken care of and all stand out on their own. This watch is very, very busy, but doesn’t detract from simply being a sharp watch and more functional than you could ever imagine. The atomic time is a nice touch, and I love it because at work, all our clocks on the computers are synced to Apple, I always know when I need to do something precisely. This day and age, most people simply rely on a cell phone to tell time, and working in tech, it’s funny how many people wrap up a new $1000 iPhone in an Otterbox or Lifeproof, and completely lose the ‘wow’ factor of the device. But wearing a watch, a large watch, it commands attention, and shows you have an attention to detail, not just following the herd.

Ever since I got it, the watch would constantly just stop keeping time and display the UTC screens. I would have to manually reset its hands and the internal clock. The quality of the watch is great and it looks good, but it is not worth the effort. Imagine checking your watch to see what time it is and not being able to.

My navihawk’s strap just got destroyed. I live in Cyprus, how can i get a new strap for this model ? 

Send the watch to Citizen watch company, after contacting customer support. 

Can I replace the polyurethane strap with a black metal bracelet like the one in the Navihawk GPS? What’s the cost?

Yes. Just take it to a citizen dealer and they should be able to swap it out no problem.

Do you have to replace any capacitors or cells to power the watch after a few years?

I have owned this watch for about 4 years now and have had nothing but solid timekeeping…. This is a great watch.

I live in a city other then the 43 listed Is there any way through Radio, Internet, etc, that I can AUTOMATICLY set my Atomic watch

To automatically set your watch by the radio controlled signal, you do not have to live in one of the 43 cities listed. The cities listed are just the largest cities for that time zone. The watch will receive a signal from one of four regions which are Japan, USA, Europe (Germany) and China. You can set the watch for your time zone and it should receive the signal between 2am – 4am for your time zone. When the signal is received, it will make corrections to watch time if needed. More information on this is found on page 9 and page 18 of the owners manual. If you have any other questions and wish to speak to someone directly, please contact our customer care department. I just purchased a JY8031-56l Navihawk and it’s fully charged and set up. Why does the second hand come to stop and clears out both display 1 and 2? Even though it doesn’t affect the time I have to pull the crown to position 1 to re set it,why? Aj

It’s been my experience that I unknowingly pull the pin, either it hangs on a shirt or what have you. When recognizing the pin is out I push it in. And it automatically resets. I’ve never seen my seconds hand stop for no apparent reason.
